Grooveshark partners with djparty.fm

Music lovers will be able to enjoy their favorite tunes in a virtual world with the partnering of Grooveshark and DJparty.fm. Grooveshark is powering the social music discovery application on DJparty.fm, granting users full access to their music catalog! By partnering with Grooveshark, the largest internationally available on-demand music streaming and discovery service, DJparty.fm is able to offer music fans a library of over 15 million songs to share with their friends across the world.

“We are very happy to be partnering with Grooveshark, a service which provides the highest quality music experience,” said Alexander Jorias, Founder of Cooee, which operates DJparty.fm.

A new social media experience, DJparty.fm allows users to create avatars and listen to their favorite artists in 3D music rooms. DJparty.fm makes music a community event, allowing users to listen to music, talk, exchange ideas, and play all the hits they love in a social environment. Users can also become DJs themselves, playing songs while chatting with other music fans. The virtual crowd votes on each tune, allowing DJs to increase their level with each positive review.

Grooveshark Updated to RC27, Future Site Enhancements Soon

Grooveshark updated it’s online web player today with a few bug fixes. They also announced on their blog that “they are working on some serious behind-the-scenes magic right now and we’ll be thrilled to deliver some exciting new changes to you in the near future.”

Below are just a few of the bug’s fixed by todays update

  • If you’re stuck on IE7, we fixed the bug that prevented you from connecting to Facebook.
  • Likewise, we fixed a problem some Firefox users were having with Facebook locking up.
  • We should now be displaying the correct number of ‘points earned’ for failed surveys instead of confusing you with the number of points the survey was worth, regardless of what you earned.
  • We fixed a long-standing frustrator by making the hover state for loop, shuffle, and crossfade look the same as the ‘on’ state.
  • We fixed the weird formatting bug that made our emails look like they were sent by a teletype.

With the recent U.S. Launch of Spotify I expect competing services like Grooveshark to start stepping up their game. We will be looking forward to these new changes.

Grooveshark to be featured in new FCC Technology Experience Center

According to the Grooveshark blog, Grooveshark will be featured in the new FCC Technology Experience Center which opens it’s doors on Wednesday July 13th.

Grooveshark donated a Blackberry Curve, Google Nexus S, and a Jailbroken iPod Touch all pre-loaded with the Grooveshark application.

Grooveshark’s Sr. VP of Business Development and Government Affairs, Paul Geller said “This modest contribution illustrates our commitment to the FCC in helping them make thoughtful regulations that inspire innovation and promote freedom on the internet,”

The FCC’s Technology Experience Center at the agency’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.  is an innovative resource for all FCC employees and visitors to engage directly with the latest technologies, which the agency accepts as donations.  Each month, the TEC will focus a portion of the technologies around a specific theme.

Congratulations to Grooveshark for being a part of the grand opening! Love that a Jailbroken iPod Touch will be featured at the FCC’s TEC.
