Portugal. The Man to Perform for Pandora Fans in New York City

Pandora, the leading personalized radio service, announced today that Portugal. The Man will headline the next live music event in the Company’s new series of free, personalized concerts. The show will take place in New York City on Tuesday, January 17.

The series is designed to bring together fans with bands they’ll love in a live, intimate setting. Pandora determines the band for each city by analyzing the musical preferences of local listeners, such as stations they have created and songs they have thumbed-up. Invitations to the events are extended to Pandora listeners who have demonstrated an affinity for the band or other similar bands.

Pandora Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Tim Westergren said, “It is exciting to see a central theme of Pandora’s mission come to life, that of helping bands find their audiences and facilitating the joy of discovery for our listeners. As the series continues, we look forward to bringing these personalized live music events to our listeners in cities all across the country.”

John Gourley of Portugal. The Man said, “Pandora asked us to play the show as part of a series they are doing. The opportunity to play a free show for the listeners who discovered our music on Pandora was something to jump at.”

The live concert series launched in Portland last month with the band Dawes. Pandora listeners across the country can access original behind-the-scenes video content, including interviews with each of the headlining bands in the series following each show through a new hub: www.pandora.com/pandorapresents.

Pandora listeners can look forward to additional personalized concerts in different cities across the country during 2012. The New York City event, for people who are 21 years of age and up, is presented to Pandora listeners free of charge.

For fans who did not receive an invitation online, a limited number of free passes will be available at the door beginning at 7 p.m. on January 17. The show will take place at The Bowery Ballroom, with the doors opening at 8 p.m. and the show beginning at 9 p.m.

Pandora Debuts Personalized Concert Series With Dawes in Portland

Pandora, the leading personalized radio service, announced today that a new series of free, live concerts will debut on December 13 in Portland, Oregon, with Dawes, an emerging rock band from Southern California. Invitations for this new series are being sent based on each listener’s musical preferences on Pandora, such as stations they have created and songs they have thumbed-up. Pandora data shows that Portland-area listeners are 25 percent more likely to enjoy a Dawes song and 30 percent more likely to create a Dawes station on Pandora than listeners in any other U.S. city.

Pandora’s Music Genome Project® powers the personalization of Pandora radio, which enables listeners to create up to 100 free radio stations with a single seed: a band name, song or genre. After a radio station is created on Pandora, feedback from each listener in the form of thumbs-up and thumbs-down helps further personalize their radio stations. This ongoing “conversation” with every listener allows Pandora to connect people with bands they love.

Pandora Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Tim Westergren said, “Connecting artists and their fans is a central part of our mission at Pandora and we bring some very unique capabilities to that task. Our data shows that Dawes has a sizeable potential audience in Portland and we’re excited to help bring them together.”

Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes said, “As we have traveled the country, we often hear from our listeners that they discovered us on Pandora. We are excited that, now, through this new concert series, we’ll get to connect in person.”

For fans who did not receive an invitation online, a limited number of free tickets will be available at the door beginning at 5 p.m. on December 13. The show will take place at Portland’s Mississippi Studios, with the doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show beginning at 8 p.m.
